 GETTING INVOLVED IN SPORT

Suffolk has a wealth of opportunities to get involved in sport and physical activity with some of the best facilities in the country and acres of green space, clean air, coastline and countryside perfect for walking, running or cycling. Suffolk Sport, the county’s sports partnership coordinates sport and physical activity right across Suffolk and is a great place to start if you’re looking for information.

SUFFOLK DISABILITY SPORT ACADEMY

Optua's Suffolk Disability Sport Academy aims to encourage more disabled people to take up sport and to develop new opportunities for disabled people to take part in and train for disability and Paralympic sports. The Academy has run a series of fun and exciting disability sport showcase days, helped to set up new clubs and sporting opportunities and helped people to find disability sports they want to take part in on a regular basis. Disability Sport Bursary Scheme - has been established to specifically create 50 new or better qualified disability sports coaches in Suffolk leading up to the London 2012 Paralympic Games. For details visit www.optua.org.uk/Leisure-disability_sport_academy.

Disability Sport DVD - A DVD has been produced to inspire people with disabilities to get in to sport in Suffolk.  The 'Be Your Best' DVD contains a snaptshop of the many disability sports clubs and opportunities in the county.
