Pre-Games training camps

Suffolk's tranquil and relaxed environment and close proximity to Stratford and the Olympic Park makes it a great place to prepare for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Suffolk boasts 11 facilities that have been accredited as official London 2012 Pre-Games Training Camp venues. 

Three Suffolk locations have already been chosen by Olympic and Paralympic Teams from other countries as a base to prepare for the 2012 Games.

  • Rwanda has chosen Bury St Edmunds
  • Azerbaijan has selected Ipswich
  • Brazilian Women's Gymnastics Team will train in Ipswich
  • The Canadian Mens Gymnasts will train in Lowestoft
  • The Australian Mens Gymnasts will train in Lowestoft

Go Rwanda is the name of a project set up by the St Edmundsbury Steering Group for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to promote the Rwanda pre-games training camp and encourage the community to adopt Rwanda as their 2nd team.
